For Conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity. Largey fought his tanks well within enemy lines until three were destroyed and the fourth caught fire. He organized the crews of his destroyed tanks and led them back to his unit through enemy lines, exhibiting outstanding leradership and courage. While under heavy fire he salvaged ammunition from a disabled tank on the reef, giving smallarms ammunition to an infantry unit and rearming his one remaining tank with heavy shells. Largey maintained conspicuous gallantry, intrepidity, and conscientious devotion to duty with utter disregard for his own personal safety.
